Theresa (Terry) Haller Simko

Theresa Haller Simko of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, passed away while surrounded by her daughters on September 4, 2025.  Terry was born on February 11, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Parma High School, studied at Carnegie College, and worked as a medical secretary at University Hospitals. She met David Simko and they married in 1962. They raised their daughters in Parma Heights and Solon, Ohio, and moved to Chagrin Falls in 1978.

Terry lived in Chagrin Falls for 46 years and was an active and faithful member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. She loved singing in the choir, serving as a member of the Daughters of the King, and her role as clergy secretary. The fellowship of her lively Journeying group and the spiritual support of her EfM study kept her active and fulfilled.

Terry created a home and life filled with friends, pets, antiques, and gardening.  She treasured her adventures with Dave and their trips to see her pen pal of 73 years in Cumbria, England.  Terry’s friends and neighbors will miss her kind notes, thoughtful gifts, and homemade soup. We will miss her spirit and energy, and the world feels a little emptier without her. 

Terry was preceded in death by her late husband, David, and is survived by her daughters Jennifer Simokaitis (Charlie), Melissa Sanders, and Catherine Smith (Scott), and grandchildren, Lilianna, Faye, Rosalind, Margot, and Henry. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 6295 Chagrin River Road, Chagrin Falls. Calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rescue Village. Arrangements by Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home Chagrin Falls, OH. www.stroudlawrence.com
