Stephen H. Spaeth age 81, passed away on May 21, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Doris (nee Repetylo), sons Jeffrey and Gary, grandchildren Hannah, Alyssa, Samuel, and Jason, and their respective families.
A lifelong resident of the Cleveland area, Stephen graduated from John Adams High School and Kenyon College. Among the highlights from his early years was the opportunity to serve as batboy for the Cleveland Indians in 1952 and 1953. He worked for many years in the leadership team at local software company Systemation, Inc, and he retired in 1992.
Stephen was active in golf, tennis, and platform tennis and became an accomplished work-worker in retirement. A patron of the arts, he actively supported the Playhouse Square Foundation and other organizations.
His charitable endeavors included many years of support of Dancing Wheels Company, active involvement with Chagrin Valley Country Club, teaching at the Fairhill Center, and volunteer work with the Geauga County YMCA, Hamlet at Chagrin Falls, and Business Advisors of Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dancing Wheels Company (www.dancingwheels.org). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday May 28 at the United Methodist Church of Chagrin Falls, 20 S. Franklin St. Chagrin Falls, OH 44022.
