Sonja (nee Van Horn) Diehn, age 85, beloved wife of the late Dr. John H. “Jack” Diehn, passed away April 3, 2021 in Hillsborough, New Jersey. She lived most of her adult life in Novelty, Ohio in the Hemlock Hills development.
She was the daughter of the late John W. Van Horn and Blanche Thomas and was the loving mother of Ellen Rogers (Greg) of Skillman NJ, Scott (Tonya) of Altoona Iowa, and Tim (Suzanne) of Columbus Indiana; dear sister of the late Joellyn Schier; and grandmother of Caitlin, Jeffrey, Zachary, Andrew, Chris, Brody, and Maggie.
Sonja graduated from Western Reserve University where she met Jack, her husband of 56 years. She was an accomplished tennis player well into her 70’s. She enjoyed traveling the world with Jack and spending time with her beloved family. She loved to do crossword puzzles and was an avid US Civil War history buff. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, which was a 12-month labor of love.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Friday, April 9, at Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home, at 33375 Bainbridge Road, Solon. A graveside gathering will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at the Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmount Road in Novelty.
