Ruth Walker Obituary

Celebrating the Life, Legacy and Love of Ruth Ann Walker

On the morning of May 29, 2021, Ruth Ann Walker took her final breath due to a long history of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease also known as COPD. Ruth was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 21, 1942. Ruth grew up in the foster home system until she aged out, but not without first meeting both of her biological sisters Alice and Gwendolyn Jilek who were also, placed in the same foster care system and who have both preceded Ruth into glory.

Ruth Ann was a hard worker throughout her life, and after Graduating from John Adams High School, Ruth continued on and successfully, obtained her nursing credentials as an LPN. Ruth was known for working not only one job but multiple jobs in order to make ends meet for her family, Ruth worked at both Hamlet Hills and Windsor Hospital both located in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and worked on private duty cases. Ruth finally, pursued her true love which was law enforcement and became a Correctional Officer with the City of Solon where she eventually, retired from.

Ruth was married three times and the most important outcome of those unions were the gifts that God blessed her with: Jeffery Allen Long (Jeff), Delphia Ann Long – Stanback (Del), Terri Ruthann Long-Anglen and Calvin Long Jr. (JR). Over the years Ruth was blessed with a son n law Ken Stanback Sr, along with grandchildren; Kenny Stanback Jr., Travis Daniel Stanback, Theodis Long (Teddy), Jyssica Ambryia Long, and a great granddaughter Kaylee Bradick. Not only did Ruth raise her own children, she welcomed her Niece Augusta (Missy) and Nephew Lindsey Jilek (loving wife Monica) and raised them as her own, and when Kendra was born, she added yet another child to include as her own to love and adore.

Ruth Ann will be extremely missed by her loving family and friends. Ruth was always sharing what she had and always looking out for others and what they may need or want. Her home was always kept immaculate and everyone was always welcome at her table. Ruth loved to bowl and participated on a bowling league but most of all, Ruth loved the Lord our God and at an early age accepted the Lord God as her savior at the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and made sure that all of her children followed suite. Ruth’s favorite gospel song was “His Eye Is on the Sparrow”.

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 6pm June 4 at Steinbauer Funeral Home, at 33375 Bainbridge Road Solon, Ohio 44139
