Ronald F. Nelson

Ronald Frederic Nelson, age 86, died at home on April 30, 2017, of pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carol, and their three children, Suzy (Bill) Richards, Nancy (Jay) Young, and Bill (Liza) Nelson. He has eight grandchildren, Brian, Brittany, Katy (Bob), Taylor, Holly, Jacob, Michael, and Joseph. Ron was born September 3rd, 1930 in La Porte, Indiana and spent his childhood in Indianapolis. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University, where he played center field for the Boilermakers. He spent the majority of his adult life in the Cleveland area (Shaker Heights and Chagrin Falls). Ron and his wife, Carol, enjoyed traveling together, including extensive camping trips with his children and travels around the world (Scandinavia, Ireland, China, and Australia, just to name a few). He was a friend to everyone he met and always had a joke at the ready. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
