Phyllis Machnics
February 1, 1935 –May 2, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Machnics, who left this world peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the Hospice of the Western Reserve on East 185th Street in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born in Cleveland on February 1, 1935, Phyllis lived a life defined by love, kindness, faith, and generosity. She was predeceased by her former husband, Richard Spear, and by her husband, Richard Machnics. She is survived by her sons, Christopher Spear (DeAnna) and Richard Spear (Theresa), and her cherished grandsons, Evan and Cole.
Phyllis worked for many years in the accounting department at Swagelok, where she made many lifelong friends and was known for her dedication and professionalism.
Beyond her professional life, she was a gifted artist and a published poet whose creative spirit brought beauty and inspiration to those around her. She found joy and peace in expressing herself through painting and the written word.
She was also a lifelong animal lover, especially fond of dogs, and shared her home and heart with animals throughout her life.
A woman of deep faith, Phyllis was devoted to God and lived her beliefs with quiet strength and grace. To know her was to love her. Her warm smile and gentle demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In accordance with her wishes, a small private graveside service will be held. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Rescue Village at 15463 Chillicothe Road, Novelty, Ohio 22072 in memory of Phyllis Machnics—a heartfelt tribute to her lifelong love of animals.
