Patricia Ann (Heckman) Bryant

Patricia Bryant (née Heckman), of South Russell, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 1, 2015. She was 80 years old. Pat is survived by her children, Anne (Mark) Hickman of South Russell, John (Terri) of Chardon and Laurel of Garfield Heights and her seven grandchildren; Jeffrey (Pam), John, Joseph, James, Amanda, Savannah and Logan. She is preceded in death by her husband, James, and her parents, Adrian and Violet Heckman. Pat was born on June 4, 1935 in Canton, Ohio. She attended Lincoln High School where she met her sweetheart, Jim in the choir.  Pat graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Elementary Education.  Pat and Jim were married in Canton on August 23, 1958.  While Jim attended graduate school at the University of Michigan, Pat taught school in Saline, Michigan.  They traveled and lived abroad for five years as Jim served embassies in Rome, Italy and Buenos Aries, Argentina. In 1965, they returned to the United States and settled in their home in South Russell.  While raising three children, Pat served as the Parish Administrator for St. Martin’s Episcopal Church for 31 years.  Pat was active in her community and church.  She loved to sing and her beautiful voice was a part of several groups, including the St. Martin’s church choir, Valley Singers, and the ACT II Singers at the Solon Senior Center. Pat was also a past president of the Chagrin Valley Junior Women’s Club and St. Martin’s Episcopal Church Women. Pat loved to be with her family and friends.  She was happiest when enjoying a play at the Chagrin Valley Little Theater, attending the concerts and sporting events of her beloved grandchildren, having lunch with friends and sitting around the dinner table with her family. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, October 9^th from 6-9 p.m. at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Bentleyville, Ohio.  A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, October 10^th at 10 a.m. at the church, with a reception to follow.   Memorial gifts can be made to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church and LifeBanc.
