MARJORIE THOMPSON WOLF
Age 99 of Aurora, OH and formerly of Moreland Hills, OH passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021. Beloved wife of 67 years to the late John J. Wolf. Loving mother of Jeffrey (deceased; wife Christine of Greensboro, NC), Jennifer Evans (Thomas- deceased) of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Keith Wolf of Aurora, OH. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Danzeisen (Matthew), Stephen Evans (deceased), Jonathan Wolf (Alexandra) and Katherine Wolf (Ted Barton); great grandmother of Rachel, Ashley, Ethan and Nora. Dear aunt of Barbara Henry, great aunt of Diana (Nathan) Hoskins and Frederick Hoskins, cousin of Bonnie Bigley and Claire Bigley. Marge was born March 30, 1922, in Cleveland, OH, the only child of Wesley Eli and Mary (nee Ramsey) Thompson and grew up in Cleveland Heights. She was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and Ohio Wesleyan University, where she majored in English and was an officer in her sorority Alpha Xi Delta. After college she worked in fashion advertising for Higbee’s in downtown Cleveland. Marge and John met after John returned from serving in WWII and were married at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in 1949.
Marge was dedicated to her family, her church, and her community. An amazing mom and homemaker, wonderful cook and gracious hostess with an eye for every detail, she loved to entertain family and friends. She was proud to have been a 25-year volunteer with Meals on Wheels and member of The Church in Aurora choir. She loved to garden, travel, hunt for antiques with John, and was active in her sorority alumni group. Marge was a loving, strong and resilient woman to the very end. Her wish was to be remembered as a beloved wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. When asked to sum up her life, she simply wrote “She didn’t miss much” in her distinctive handwriting.
The family wishes to thank her loving and dedicated caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care, the staff of Independence Village of Aurora, and Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care. No visitation. A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at The Church in Aurora, 146 S. Chillicothe Road, Aurora OH 44202 at 11:00am on Monday, July 26, 2021, with burial to follow at Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church in Aurora (Choir Fund) or Chagrin Falls Meals on Wheels, PO Box 23497 Chagrin Falls, OH 44023.
