Margaret Ruth Hollinshead Stratton, (88) wife of Harry J. Stratton, Jr. (decd)Born August 19, 1927 in Winnsboro, Texas to John Marvin and Ollie Mae Hollinshead. Margaret met Jim while he was stationed at Camp Fannin in Tyler, Texas. They were married at Marvin UMC in Tyler and moved to Jim’s hometown of Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1947. Beloved mother of Harry James III, John Edward (Eve), Sarah Stratton Kesselem (Paul), David Monroe (Gail), Steven George (decd), Ruthann DiLillo (Rocco). Grandmother to 20: Jeremy, Michael, Sarah Flemming (Andrew), Emily, John Jr. Stratton; Timothy, Katie, Rachel, Julia, Stephanie Kesselem; David Jr, Leah Alderman (Wes), Ben, Mara Stratton; Michael, Cassie, and Justin Stratton; Natalie, Annmarie, and Rocco DiLillo. Great Grandmother to 5: Logan Kesselem, Oliviana and Troy Alderman, Thomas Flemming and Declan Stratton. Margaret in proceeded in death by her siblings Lloyd Hollinshead, Teretha Campbell (Roy), Carswell (MaryLouise),Richard (Nelldean) Paul (Ellen), and Calvin (Loreen).and is loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews and greats. Her family made trips to Texas reunions over the years and the family ties are strong to this day. Margaret loved her United Methodist Church of Chagrin Falls and was active in their Choir, Missions Coordinator, and Women's group as well as being the District Chair of the NEO United Methodist Women's Group. She was a founding member of the Chagrin Valley Garden Club, member of the Needlecraft Club and the Chagrin Valley Women's club. She was active in the Chagrin Falls chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, holding various offices. She was an Avon Representative, the Welcome Wagon Hostess for Chagrin Valley, a real estate agent, and receptionist for Merrill Lynch. She loved her Pinochle group, and taught all of her grandchildren her beloved card game, Skip-Bo. Her home was the place for many family gatherings and Christmas Caroling parties. She was so happy when any of her family or friends would stop by. She was loved by many and will be missed by all of her friends and family. Visitation hours will be on March 18th from 4-7 pm at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Memorial Service will be held on March 19th at 11 am at the United Methodist Church of Chagrin Falls, Ohio with a reception following in the church hall until 2 pm.
