Kathryn F. (Fox) Nelson

Kathryn Fox Nelson, 66 of Chagrin Falls passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Adelaide Fox, her brother James Fox and her sister Virginia Fox Kirkwood. She was a loving wife to her husband of 38 years, Don Nelson, mother of her sons and daughter, Matthew (Kerry), Andrew (Colleen), and Jessica (Michael May) and grandmother to Ian, Arden, Ethan, Conner, Bryn, and Brady. She is also survived by her siblings Richard Fox (Joanne), Robert Kirkwood, Robert Fox (Linda), Timothy Fox (Julia Ann), and countless nieces and nephews. Kathryn was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, attended St. Dominic’s grade school, Beaumont High School, obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Mary of the Woods, and her Master’s from Ohio State in Music Education. Upon graduation she worked as a music teacher and singer, meeting her future husband Don at one of her performances. Don and Kathy began a family and moved to Chagrin Falls where she committed herself to volunteering at various charitable organizations and made a series of lifelong friends. Kathryn’s greatest talent and passion was singing, which she shared with family and friends by singing at countless baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Kathy volunteered much of her time and energy in support of several organizations she believed in. She played an active role as past president of The Christ Child Society and helped lead the annual campaign for Catholic Charities. Kathy also volunteered at her children’s Catholic schools, including leading the children’s choir at St. Joan of Arc and dedicating countless hours at Walsh Jesuit High School. Kathryn was devoted to her faith and her family as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Parish Hall of St. Joan of Arc Church, 496 East Washington Street, Chagrin Falls, OH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Thursday March 12 at St. Joan of Arc Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
