Judith White Obituary

Judith R. White, 92, passed away peacefully at Eliza at Chagrin Falls skilled nursing facility on February 27, 2025, after a period of declining health. She was born on November 3, 1932 in Buffalo, NY to Roswell and Thelma Relyea. She is survived by her loving children, Stephen White (Nora), Susan W. DeLooze (Michael), and three grandchildren, Andrew (Johanna); Sean (Jackie) and Allison (Daniel). Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her two siblings, James (Nancy) and Lawrence (Linda), and her husband of 45 years, Harry K. White.

Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was outgoing, young-thinking, kind-hearted, and had a wicked sense of humor. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1951, where she made lifelong friends, many of whom gathered over the years for Gourmet Club, playing bridge and going to the movies. She completed 2 years of college at Miami of Ohio, majoring in English Literature. During high school, she met and fell in love with Harry whom she married in 1953. She dedicated much of her life to supporting her partner in crime, Harry, along with his recreational aspirations, and as she often said, much to her dismay she found them enjoyable as well: sailboat racing, downhill skiing, golfing, tennis, paddle tennis and cross-country skiing. She also loved dogs, the teddy bear club, playing bridge, reading, gardening, restaurants and movies, with special mention of Russell Crowe and Freddie Mercury (Queen).

Judy was family-oriented and doted on her grandchildren. She and Harry spent as much time as possible with their two grandsons and granddaughter, going on adventures, attending school and sports events. After Harry's untimely passing in 1998, she traveled the world extensively and remained an active member at the sailing club she'd joined with Harry at age 25. In later years, she was a steady volunteer at the frequent gatherings at the sailing club including the week long junior sailing camps. She was friends with all ages at the club, and was included in “movie night” with a group of much younger friends, qualifying through her love of and knowledge of movies, and the ability to bring down the house with an unexpected irreverent comment. Judy was a character and will be sorely missed.
