John Michael Rieger, 47, passed away on Monday, November 23rd. John is lovingly remembered by his wife Christine, beloved children Jack (11) and Lily (8); mother Anne Rieger; sister Ann Marie Brizee (Andy) ; nieces Emily Cox and Taylor Brizee; nephews Austin Brizee and Brandon Young ; many cousins and other relatives and so many dear friends around the country and in Northeast Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Rieger. John was a proud member of the United States Air Force having joined at the age of 18. John was a member of the 445th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Wright-Patterson and served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Desert Storm before becoming CMSgt with the 910th Medical Squadron at the Youngstown Air Reserve Base OH. In addition, he worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Cleveland where he enjoyed working with veterans and his work family. John was a respected colleague and mentor, a friend to many and will always be remembered as someone you could count on. His children were his greatest joy and his spirit will live on in both of them. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 5th at The Federated Church ,76 Bell Street ,Chagrin Falls, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, Fisher House Foundation or National Military Family Association.
