James Koechley Obituary

James Paul Koechley (Jim) age 83 of Chagrin Falls passed away peacefully on June 4, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Merriann, loving father of Jamie Koechley-Ingram (Jonathan), dear grandfather of Jenna, brother of Jan Roberts (Edward), Joanne McClintock (Terry), and John Koechley (Kim), uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jim was born December 12, 1938, to Ray and Hazel Koechley, and grew up in Bellevue Ohio. Jim attended Bowling Green University where he was a Sigma Chi, studying and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing.  Soon after graduation he joined the Navy, serving as an officer, while traveling to many places around the world, achieving rank of Lieutenant JG.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to Cincinnati where he met Merriann.  They later were married and remained in Cincinnati for a few years before moving to Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  Jim worked for the Cadillac Motor Car Division for many years and became the District Sales Manager, retiring in the late 90’s. Jim enjoyed many things in life including spending time with family, fishing, boating, golfing, barbecuing, and even woodworking when he had time, where he made many beautiful things. He mostly loved being a father to Jamie and grandfather (PAPA) to Jenna. He spent many endless hours with Jenna playing hide-n-seek, teaching her how to ride a bike and enjoying quality time with his daughter, son in law, and granddaughter.
