Jack D. Bennett “Hawkeye” age 86 of Chagrin Falls passed away peacefully on December 15, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Dodie. Significant other of Precilla Hoag. Loving father of Peter and Sarah “Sally” Westman. Grandfather of Andrew and Melanie. Great Grandfather of Ashley (Cody) Arnold. Brother of Beverly Rosecrance. In 1967 Jack helped John Church teach Junior High School Boys the Fundamentals of Football that scrimmaged other teams, this nucleus is now the Chagrin Athletic Association. In 1972 he joined in the formation of Sportin’life a sporting goods store in Chagrin Falls and retired from there in the 1980s. Also in the 80’s Jack helped form the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the National RP Fighting Blindness and served as President for the first four years. Around the same time Jack joined The Village Squires (a Dixieland Group). Jack was a board member of the Cleveland Sight Center and the Chagrin Valley Lions Club. In 1994 jack received the Volunteer of the year for the RSVP Share the Vision Program of the Cleveland Sight Center and the Most Treasured Volunteer Award from the Federation of Community Planning MVT Award Sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Northern Ohio. Memorial Services 4:00 P.M. Saturday December 19, 2015 at the United Methodist Church of Chagrin Falls 20 S. Franklin St. Chagrin Falls, OH. Memorial Contributions may be made to Share the Vision of the Cleveland Sight Center or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
