George R. Hill, age 77, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, passed away in Hospice Care on Friday, March 22, 2019. He was born in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, son of George and June Hill. He was married to his soulmate, Loree Arlene, for 54 wonderful years. Together they raised three children, Pamela (Buz Quattlebaum), David (Connie Riblet), and James (Alena Frate). He is also survived by two grandchildren, Benjamin and William Quattlebaum, and his two brothers William (Karen), and Richard. George received his PH.D. in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and began his career at Diamond Shamrock. He later worked for The Lubrizol Corporation retiring as Executive Vice President. In addition to his family, George had a passion for charity work, volunteering with the Western Reserve Boy Scouts, the Alzheimer's Association and Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry amongst others. He was an active member of Valley Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities. He enjoyed golfing with hiswife and sons, especially at the Pepper Pike Club, and while vacationing in Florida. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Cavaliers, Indians, and, when forced by his sons, the Browns. He had a great sense of humor, a large heart, and an equally large sweet tooth. A Memorial service will beheld at Valley Lutheran Church (87 E. Orange St Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44022) on Saturday, March 30th at 11am, with a meal to follow. A visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (4515 Superior Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44240), or to Valley Lutheran Church.
