Edwin Emil Gottschalk born Jan. 16, 1930, passed away Dec. 25, 2018. Edwin Gottschalk, 88, passed away on December 25, 2018 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. He was born January 16,1930 in Cleveland and resided in this area his entire life. He had a second home in Duck Key, Florida where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends for 30 years. Ed attended East Tech High School in Cleveland and graduated from college at Case Western Reserve University in 1956. After High School, Ed entered the military, where he was stationed in Berlin as an intelligence officer from 1952 to 1954. In college, he was a Cleveland Golden Gloves boxing champion. He built a general contracting business with his father, and then later his son, Ed, Jr. Ed was a man who believed in working hard, always doing your best, and showing love and generosity. He was a well-respected member of the Chagrin Falls community, and was unconditional in his love for his family and friends. He was a people person and in contact with friends and loved ones daily. Ed is the son of the late Emil Gottschalk and Marie Kaptein and is survived by his three children Sue Halverstadt, Ed Jr., and Julie Hollar, and their mother Nancy Gottschalk. He is also survived by his children's spouses Dave, Kathryn and Charles. He has seven grandchildren: Brent, Evan, Alix, Pearson, William, Samantha and Charlie. He is predeceased by his late wife Beverly. A Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held on Sat. 2/9 from 2-5 PM at the Pine Lake Trout Club in Chagrin Falls.
