E. Jane Forrest Hinman

E. Jane Forrest Hinman, 93, passed away on January 12, 2023.  Jane was born in Mohawk, NY on January 18, 1929, to the late Glenn and Mary (Hopper) Forrest. She was a graduate of Syracuse University majoring in Home Economics and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. At Syracuse, she met her husband Donald D. Hinman, Jr. and they later married in 1951.

Throughout their lives, as career opportunities arose and the family moved around the country, she built a home for her family and made friends easily. She was an active member of various Junior League chapters and Alpha Phi alumni groups. Jane was an avid bridge and mahjong player. She loved to sew, knit, and crochet, making many clothes, sweaters, and afghans. Her love of music was portrayed in her piano playing. Cats and dogs were always a part of the family and held a special place in her heart.  But above everything, she was known for her dedication to and her love of family.  She had a special talent for helping her children adjust to new surroundings. 

Jane is survived by her children, Nan Lanahan (Tom), Paul Hinman (Lori), and Mary Jacobson; grandchildren Rachel (Britt), Jack, Will, Katherine, Michael, Colleen (Justin), Megan (Matt); and great grandchildren Clark, Benjamin, Owen, and Max. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Services will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 17989 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls, Ohio on Friday January 20th at 10:00 AM.  The family will receive guests starting at 9:15 AM at the church.  The service can be live-streamed using the Facebook link at www.loloh.org.  Burial will be in Thousand Oaks, CA alongside her husband.  Funeral arrangements made by Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home.
