E. Greer Wurster
Born July 25, 1941 in Cincinnati, OH and passed away March 13, 2017 with his family by his side. Loving husband of Pamela (nee Nickel), adoring father of Laura (Chris) Jones and Beth (Matt) Jaffe, doting granddad of Abbey and Noah Jaffe, Sydney and Eve Jones. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy (Jim) Nicklaus, Bonnie (Bill) Powell, in-laws David (Linda) Nickel, Claudia (Tim) Hendricks and Craig Nickel as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Willa Winegardner, step-father Kenneth Winegardner, father Edward Wurster and in-laws Henry and Virginia Nickel. He was a graduate of Otterbein College. Following college, he served in the US Army Reserves. He spent his entire career in the insurance industry.
Greer’s greatest joys in life were his family, his church and his town of Chagrin Falls where he lived for 45 years. He was very involved over the years in the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church as a trustee, Chairman of the Administrative Board, and member of the United Methodist Church of Chagrin Falls Foundation. He took several mission trips with the church to the Appalachian Service Project. He was also a member of the Chagrin Falls Republican Committee and volunteered for many local and national campaigns.
Greer enjoyed daily walks through Chagrin Falls. He was always ready with a quip or a joke. He took great pride in his century home (circa 1880). He lovingly cared for his mother until she died at the age of 100. He loved to read, take family vacations, cheer on the Indians and the Buckeyes, follow the stock market, host family dinners and have his daily coffee at North Main Diner. But more than anything else, he loved his family.
A service to celebrate Greer’s life will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church with a reception immediately following. Arrangements by Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home, 440-247-7575
