Donna Louise (Herrington) May

Donna L. May (nee Herrington) passed away June 21,2023.  Beloved wife of the late Larry May. She leaves behind daughters, Pam (Mark deceased) and Debbie (Bob) Soboslay, grandchildren Julie (Justin) Pelto, Mindy (Tommy) Wald, Jeff (Mallory) Raines, Stephanie (Brian) Schaefer, Sarah Soboslay and six great grandchildren. 

Donna grew up in Chagrin Falls and Auburn, graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1953 and married Larry in 1955.  They built a home in Auburn on two acres of the family farm and raised their two girls there.  After high school, she worked at Fram Gas and Chase Bag.  In 1960, she began what would be a 38 year career at Solon Exc. Sand & Gravel, handling all financial aspects of the business as well as personnel and administrative duties. 

Donna and Larry loved taking their daughters on family vacations and once they had grandchildren, they always included them on one special trip each year for many years.  After the girls were grown, she and Larry took many trips in their motorhome, as well as trips to Hawaii, New York City and a Caribbean Cruise.  They both loved to golf and spent their retirement years in a golf course community in Titusville, Florida. 

Donna hosted many social gatherings and family reunions at their home.  She loved being involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.  She will be dearly missed by family, as well as many friends in Ohio and Florida.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 17989 Chillicothe Rd, Chagrin Falls, OH  44023 on Saturday, August 5th, 2023.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am, with a service at 11:00 am and a light lunch to follow.
