Barbara "Bobbie" Curry Kagy, 86, of Cresskill, NJ, formerly of Chagrin Falls, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 15th. She was born May 29, 1930 in Atlanta, GA to Ethel Riley Curry and Theodore Curry. Bobbie grew up in the Washington, DC area and was a graduate of the Western High School class of 1948. Following graduation, Bobbie attended Miami University, where she met the love of her life, Edmund M. Kagy. They were married in 1951, and following Ed's years of service in the U.S. Army, they moved to Chagrin Falls where Ed grew up, to begin their life together. They lived in Chagrin their entire married life until moving to New Jersey four years ago to be close to their son. Bobbie was a homemaker during the years her children were growing up, but chose to turn her love of education into a career later in life as a secretary at Chagrin Falls High School. In retirement she tutored students in Cleveland for a number of years. She was an active member of the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church and their UMW organization. For many years, both Bobbie and Ed were active in the American Field Service, hosting three exchange students in their home as well as participating at county and national levels of the organization. Bobbie was an avid bridge player, enjoying games with her lady friends and a close group of couples. She enjoyed the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, and attended regularly with her friends. Bobbie enjoyed her long association with the Bay View Club of Chagrin falls, and loved her many vacations over the years to Sanibel/Ft. Myers, FL with Ed and her family. Surviving are her beloved husband of 65 years Edmund M. Kagy, her children Kathryn Kagy (Phil) of Cincinnati and Ted Kagy (Kathy) of Tenafly, NJ as well as her grandchildren Erik Taylor of San Diego, CA Alison Taylor of Cincinnati, OH, Ryan Kagy of Dumont, NJ and Alex Kagy of Boston, MA. Her loving nieces and nephews Barb Barton Dlugosz, Bill Barton, Lucy Park Dugger ant Tim Park also survive her. Calling hours will be held at Stroud Lawrence Funeral Home, 95 South Franklin Street, Chagrin Falls, OH on Wednesday, August 24th from 4-7PM. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, August 25th at 10AM at the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church, 20 South Franklin Street, Chagrin Falls, OH. Internment will be private. Donations may be made in Bobbie's memory to The American Heart Association (donatenow.heart.org) or The Cleveland Orchestra (clevelandorchestra.com).
