Anne "Nancy" (Glennon) McIntosh

     Anne Glennon McIntosh, beloved mother, sister, traveler, storyteller and undefeated champion of the clearance rack passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025 after a life lived joyfully IN ALL CAPS AND EXCLAMATION MARKS!!! and on her own very specific schedule. She was (still) 39 years old and anyone claiming otherwise is just bad at math.

     Known to friends and family as Nancy, Honey, and/or Lulu she was born on May 25, 1939 in New York City to Stephen and Helen Glennon. Nancy grew up in Larchmont, NY and attended Westchester County’s finest schools before studying French at Trinity College in Washington, DC where she earned the “T Pin,” the school’s highest honor, before graduating in 1961. She went on to work at the legendary Plaza Hotel in NYC before meeting the love of her life, Doug McIntosh. 

After an alarmingly brief courtship, they wed in 1965 and immediately started adventuring to far-flung places around the world, having a whole mess of kids along the way. It was during this chapter of her life that she collected experiences, stories, and opinions, many of which were delivered in later years in the form of factually-questionable monologues.

     Nancy and Doug settled in Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1987, though “settled” is a relative term for someone who approached life with unrelenting enthusiasm and a calendar full of plans, few of which she was on time for. Nancy possessed an extraordinary appetite for life, flamboyant (and sometimes flammable) cuisines of all ethnicities, dressage and tennis, but the one constant was her hunger for bargains. She took pride in her ability to locate treasures at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and any other establishment where persistence and a sharp eye could yield victory. Holidays were greeted with enthusiastic preparations, mostly done by others under her close supervision. (Also, who serves brisket on Thanksgiving, Steve?)  

     Nancy spent 25 years as a pastoral associate at Our Lady of Peace in Cleveland, and made an impression with home buyers and sellers alike during her many years as a Realtor(R) at Howard Hanna. Nancy was deeply involved in her community and believed strongly that getting older was no excuse to slow down. In recent years, she found a happy home at Hamlet at Chagrin Falls, where she made an instant impact and was a devoted supporter of Hamlet’s live music (which she declared “unbelievably good,” at least while she was the choir director), and a warm, welcoming presence for new residents. Never one to allow a lack of experience to prevent her from having an opinion, Nancy was a source of helpful advice on matters ranging from how to run a Catholic parish to the proper pronunciation of colloquial French phrases to the correct way to organize real estate paperwork, among others.

     She is preceded in death by her doting husband Doug, her siblings Marsie, Sissy, Cookie and Stevie, and countless retail accounts including Spiegel, Fabletics, Chico’s, Things Remembered, and so many others. Nancy is survived by her favorite son Jeffrey, who frequently joined her for happy hour at the Atrium and endured her stories with love & patience, only occasionally attempting to shorten them. (Yes, she is also survived by her other biological children, none of whom approach Jeff’s level of sainthood, and therefore do not merit mention here.) Nancy is also survived by her two favorite siblings Charlie and Francie. She leaves behind countless friends, fellow residents, dining staff, musicians, and retail employees who felt her bright light.

     In Nancy’s honor, friends and family are encouraged to buy something they absolutely don’t need but at a great price, try a cuisine they can’t pronounce, decorate enthusiastically for the next holiday, and—if the moment feels right—tell a story that goes on just a little too long.     A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on February 21, 2026 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 496 E. Washingtonm Street Chagrin Falls, OH 44022. It could very well be the first event that Nancy makes it to on time, so stay tuned for details on that. Here’s to Nancy!
