Albert C. Hoopes of Cincinnati died April 30, 2020 at the age of 93. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on May 8, 1926, he was raised in Chagrin Falls, OH beginning at age four. He attended Chagrin Falls High School and was a member of the Ohio National Guard 3641 M.A.M. Co during the Korean Conflict. He was a past commander of the Rocky River American Legion Post 451 and a 65-year member of the Golden Gate Lodge 245 in Chagrin Falls. He was a member of the Chagrin Falls Methodist Church and a Methodist all his life. In his professional career, he worked in the folding carton and packaging business and he retired from International Paper.
In 1953 he married Geraldine Buckley of Lakewood, Ohio and she was the mother of his six children: Kathleen Hoopes, James Hoopes (Rhonda), Virginia Summe (Mel), Mary Kohnen (Allen), and David Hoopes. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Lynn Hoopes and his brother, David Hoopes. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Health West Park for their compassion and professional care during the latter part of his life and Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati for their compassionate end-of-life care. Masonic and Methodist services were held with Stroud Lawrence Funeral Home and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
