RAYMOND BRUCE HENDERSON
Raymond, 85, long time resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, passed away on March 6, 2018. Ray was born and raised in Chagrin Falls. He attended the “little red school house” on Philomethian Street and was proud to be a Chagrin Falls High School alumni. Ray married his sweetheart, Julianne (Takacs) on April 27, 1963; they were married for 51 years. Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed woodcarving, landscaping and cheering for his children and grandchildren at sports events. Ray took great pride in sharing his photo albums of the Bradley/Henderson family history; one of the founding families of Chagrin Falls. Ray was an Eagle Scout; Boy Scout leader and volunteer at the Cleveland Boy Scout Museum. Ray had a gentle and loving disposition. There are friends that you make in this world, that you don’t see often but mean so much to you; Ray was one of those friends; he will be greatly missed by many. Ray is survived by his four children, John (Misty) of Columbus, Indiana, Mary Kay (Kirk) Gebler of Bainbridge, Edward of Chagrin Falls and Bill (Jennifer) of Newbury; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His loving wife, Julianne, preceded him in death on July 24, 2014; also preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Grace (Bradley) Henderson; his siblings, Eldon Henderson, Kay and Harry Milner, Herbert and Ruby (Blackburn) Henderson. Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Chagrin Falls Historical Society, 87 East Washington Street, Chagrin Falls; with a celebration of Ray’s life at 7 PM. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Stroud Lawrence Funeral Home. Ray’s final resting place will be at his wife’s side in Evergreen Cemetery, Chagrin Falls, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, Ray would be honored by a donation in his name to the Lake Erie Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2241 Woodland Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115 or the Chagrin Falls Historical Society, 87 East Washington St, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022.
