Benes, Janice A., 67 of Pepper Pike, OH passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018. She was born in Akron, OH and graduated with her B.A. from Ohio State University and M.A. from University of Kentucky. Janice worked as an occupational therapist and teacher for nearly 30 years at Cleveland State and later Solon Schools. An active member of her community, she volunteered with local organizations including Girl Scouts and Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Doob; mother, Janice Forte; children, Polly (Lock) Reynolds, Oliver Benes (Kelly Charlton), Johanna (Bryan) Garber, and Richie; sisters, Georgia (Gerry) Murphy, Laurie Fahrer, and Lea Heidman (Brian Malone); brothers, Mike Forte and James Achberger; and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Hollace Forte; sister, Vicki Reeves; James Benes; and Jay and Richard Heidman. The family is especially grateful to Ashley, Deanna, Latrice, Lisa, Sharon, and Stephanie for their many years of devoted care. Janice's exuberance, spontaneity, and love will be deeply missed. Memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Cleveland on January 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Shaker Heights, OH. Brunch and reception will occur following the service.
